Losing the bump

I gained a LOT of weight when I was pregnant. Since I had so much back and hip pain, I was unable to exercise after about the third month so that is a big reason that I gained so much. Well, that and all the ice cream, cake and brownies and other chocolate goodies I inhaled on a daily basis. Now that I am six weeks out, I have lost half the weight I put on. I know the other half is going to be pretty hard to lose. That’s why I joined the YMCA and signed up for 10 hour-long sessions with a personal trainer to jump start my journey towards fitting back into my old, non-maternity clothes.

Tomorrow is my first session and I am nervous about how hard it is going to be to get back into a fitness routine. But, I can’t wear elastic waistbands forever so I am going to bite the bullet!

Aunt Carrie

My best friend Carrie came to see Reed when he was about 11 days old. Although Carrie lives in Florida and is constantly traveling with her job as a Southwest flight attendant, she has always made time to be there for me and now for Baby Reed. We’ve been using Skype to keep in touch with video calls, and she can see how Reed is growing. It’s a great service. We love you, Aunt Carrie!

Dear Reed,

You aren’t old enough to understand the historical significance of yesterday, but you mom and dad are so happy that you are one of the millions of children in this nation who now can believe anything is possible and achieve it. The world you will grow up in has taken one giant step towards equality for all men and women and its a beautiful thing.

With love,

mom and dad

You MUST watch the below video! I swear, our son who is one day shy of a month old, talked to us today. Chris was talking to Reed like he often does and was telling him he was cute. Just listen closely and tell me what you think about the video in the comments.
