The baby borrowers

posted on Monday, August 28th, 2008 under Uncategorized |

Tonight we are keeping 7 week old Berrin, our friends’ son so they can have a night out. So far, we are making it ok. We fed him, burped him, put him in the swing, changed his diaper, held him when he cried until he went to sleep. Now he is sleeping happily in the swing. It has been good practice for what is to come in about four weeks. I cannot believe we are so close to meeting Reed. I cannot believe we are going to be parents.

Anyway, here is a short video of the little man - its hard to feed him with this big belly! And yes, I am swollen and huge these days! Please note Simone’s bad haircut and pink pom-pom feather headdress from the groomer.

Hold your nose

Seriously. It ain’t pretty. I am being chased by a thick and unforgiving fog of flatulence. Unfortunately it is my own. Someone please tell me how a fetus can cause insessent, putrid, artillery rounds of farts? It is becoming a gamble to leave my home for fear someone might be overwhelmed and become a casuality of my toxic fumes. Perhaps I can vaccum seal my hiney to save all innocent bystanders?

From Amsterdam with love

posted on Monday, August 21st, 2008 under Uncategorized |

Take a look at what my sweet friend Veronica (who is also expecting a baby boy) who lives in Amsterdam sent me today! Lots of really cute stuff — so unique and so generous!

Click here to see a little video of the goodies. Can you tell I am obsessed with my Flip video recorder?

What you see is baby socks and a rubber duckie with a traditional Dutch print, a onesie with a little guy playing soccer, a wooden Dutch shoe thats a car (I love, love wooden toys!) and a Swarovski ornament.

I want to especially point out the beautiful Swarovski ornament that has a crystal pacifier and baby elephant on the blue ribbon. So adorable! We are going to put it in one of Reed’s windows. I think Veronica is aware of my Swarovski obsession!

Thank you Veronica and Maarten, as always you spoil us! We LOVE it all!!!

Showered with love

posted on Monday, August 14th, 2008 under Uncategorized |

I have been extremely blessed. FOUR baby showers have been thrown for me — two at work, one by my best friend and one by my sweet aunts. I cannot begin to explain how overwhelmed I feel by all the love and support that friends, co-workers and family have shown me throughout my pregnancy. I cannot say enough how much it means to me.

I know I have not been a delight to be around these past several months, but to have so many people come together to celebrate the pending arrival of Baby Reed has been truly touching. His nursery is filled with so many beautiful things but most importantly, each of those things are attached to a person who care about me, Chris and Baby Reed. And that is the most beautiful part about it.

I wanted to share some pictures from some of my showers. I have yet to write nearly 50 thank you notes but I am working on them. I wanted to post this now, though, so all of you that have been there for me know how much you mean to me. I couldn’t ask for better friends, family and co-workers. I feel so lucky, and Reed is going to be one spoiled and loved little guy.

Here are some pictures of my shower with my family:

Pa, Reed’s namesake gives his soon-to-be great-grandson a little advice. Turn up your volume as high as it can go.

You know that Bugaboo Bee stroller I was lusting over? Well, my mom (and dad) got it for me! Yay! I know, I am still a spoiled only child … and Reed will probably be a very spoiled only grandchild as well.
