Poor Reed has another ear infection. This is number 3 or 4 so far. We found out he weighs 19 pounds, 9 ounces today at the doctor. He is definitely growing! He is feeling pretty good during the day, it’s at night when things aren’t so good. He coughs all night and it sounds terrible. I didn’t get any sleep last night and Chris and I have caught his cold. We were very zombie-ish today.
I thought Reed could use some fresh air this evening, and I needed to walk around a bit. I got Chris to change out the stroller so Reed didn’t have to be in his infant car seat in it — he is getting too big for it. Now he can front-face. He looks like a big boy now and he seemed to love strolling in the neighborhood with a new view of his world.
Augh! I never have the time to update and I am going to really regret it one of these days! Reed is doing AWESOME. He is super happy and is changing like crazy. He began sitting up very very good two weeks ago.
He has a new top tooth and is getting in a couple more teeth on the bottom. He has begun to say “ba-ba” and seems to mean “bottle” when he says it. I’m not positive, though — I could be a little over-excited!
My college BFF’s came to visit and see Reed in Mid-May. We had the best time ever, and I miss those girls like crazy! It was awesome to see them, and they thought Reed was a pretty sweet little guy. Smart girls, aren’t they? ;-)
Last weekend, we went to Strawberry Plains to spend the weekend with my parents. We had lots of fun with Reed and he really charmed my grandmother. I think she would like for us to let him live with her! We went to church on Sunday, and Reed actually made it through the entire service without making a peep! I am in total shock!
After church, I made my first trip to Wal-Mart in years and found Reed a baby laptop. He is really into it!
But, he still prefers the real thing when given the choice. Just like his daddy!
We are just living every day, enjoying Reed and being thankful for him.
Yesterday was a wonderful mother’s day! I got spoiled by my two men. Chris let me sleep in while he and Reed went on a secret mission. When he got back, he told me to go in the kitchen and take a look. There was a great looking edible arrangement with chocolate covered strawberries, strawberries, pineapples cut into the shape of hearts and grapes. And, a little blue box with a very pretty necklace in it! And finally, a card from Reed and a card from Chris. It was too sweet. Later, we walked to brunch in the Village. They gave a rose to all the moms! It was so fun and I definitely felt loved and appreciated!
Ok I have been super negligent on the blog lately. Let’s see what has happened recently?
Reed is getting over an ear infection right now. He was very miserable about 10 days ago and had a fever for 4 straight days.
Reeds’ third tooth is coming in on the top front. Just drooling like a maniac and chewing on everything in sight, no pain.
Reed has figured out how to move his finger over his mouth and make the motorboat noise. It’s pretty darn funny!
He loves going outside and looking around the yard at the trees, plants and anything else he can see.
He is madly and deeply in love with his dog, Simone. It’s pretty much a borderline obsession! He tries to pet her all the time, and succeeds until Simone gets tugged too hard. He looks for her and smiles at her and sometimes even squeals if she runs by in front of him.
Reed has tried several kinds of baby food: sweet potato, peas, pears, apples, carrots (hated them), and recently a mix of bananas, raspberries and peaches which he loves.
We are having lots of fun especially with the warm weather.
I’ll try to capture Reed blubbering and him fawning over his doggie as soon as possible on video and will post it.
Sorry I have not had much to say lately. My heart has been heavy. I do want to say that the online donation form Chris set up for his friend John has surpassed $5,000 in just four days. Pretty amazing considering it originally was only promoted via Facebook and Twitter. It has gotten the attention of Jack FM here in Nashville and they will be using the form for a special request-a-thon which will raise money for the family on Thursday. Those who give $25 to the fund will be able to request a song to play on the station.
I’ve felt really good about the ways in which people have stepped up to support the Bryant family. That takes a little bit of the pain away.
UPDATE!! The fund is now nearing $13,000!!! It is so amazing to see how people are giving so generously.
As most of you know, we had a terrible tornado that struck Murfreesboro on Friday. Chris’s mom lives there, and Chris went to college there and lived there for about a decade.
He has many friends who call Murfreesboro home. His friend John lost his wife and 9 week old baby girl in the tornado, and now John is critically injured. Please consider donating to the Bryant Fund to help John recover and give his family a proper funeral. You can get all the details here, and also read several news stories about the family. We have been hugging Reed extra tight, trying to remember that everything can change in a matter of seconds.
In the last post, I posted a below video of us playing peek-a-boo (or in Sir Drool A Lot’s case, peek-a-bib). Well, Reed has quickly figured out how he can participate in this game even more actively. Watch the video below!
