As most of you know, we had a terrible tornado that struck Murfreesboro on Friday. Chris’s mom lives there, and Chris went to college there and lived there for about a decade.
He has many friends who call Murfreesboro home. His friend John lost his wife and 9 week old baby girl in the tornado, and now John is critically injured. Please consider donating to the Bryant Fund to help John recover and give his family a proper funeral. You can get all the details here, and also read several news stories about the family. We have been hugging Reed extra tight, trying to remember that everything can change in a matter of seconds.
In the last post, I posted a below video of us playing peek-a-boo (or in Sir Drool A Lot’s case, peek-a-bib). Well, Reed has quickly figured out how he can participate in this game even more actively. Watch the video below!
So, I was walking across Vanderbilt campus on a lovely spring day earlier this week, heading to see sweet Reed. I felt pretty good, I had purchased a new plum-colored dress and I thought, for once, I was looking like I had a bit less baby belly. Well, things quickly took a turn for the worse when a random stranger who was enjoying her cigarette decided to yell from a good 50 feet away, “You sure look cute pregnant!”
I promptly replied, “Well, I actually already had my baby.”
She then told me “it will go down.”
OMGWTH?
Anyway, Chris got a call from me and tried to decipher the story through my sobs.
I’m over it now, mainly because even though I have some weight left to lose there is no way in hell that I look anything like I did when I was pregnant. I mean, let’s review recent history:
I know that I don’t look anything like this anymore. I am still going to get really serious about getting back in shape — I mean its no fun to have to shoehorn myself into one pair of my old jeans that sort of fit and not be able to fit into much else from my old wardrobe. But, I am determined to not let that crazy woman get me down, and will see her face as I suffer at the gym melting my baby bump into oblivion!
Update: “Carter” has been placed at a rescue and will be up for adoption very soon! Yay! Thanks to my parents for being this boy’s fairy godmothers!!
My parents found this dog. He is a young male Cocker Spaniel, very very sweet and seems to have lived inside in the past. Does well in a crate. He is in desperate need of a good home or a no-kill shelter or animal rescue. Please, please let me know if you are interested in him or can help us find him a loving home.
My mom stayed with me last weekend because Chris was at a conference. I took Monday off and we took Reed to the zoo. We had a great time!
We saw meerkats, sleeping baby tigers, gibbons, cougars, a red panda, leapords, elephants and more! Our most favorites were the sweet giraffes. They were just precious! One big guy came over to look at us. I think he thought we were on display for him. We also enjoyed walking around the critter encounter petting zoo and checking out the old farm and the house built in 1810. Here are a few pictures!
Yesterday, I looked into Reed’s mouth and found at nice little white tooth poking out from his bottom gum. Today, our little man rolled from tummy to back finally. Also, this week he found his tongue and has been messing around with it like crazy.
